WINTER LEAGUES -2009
The league banquet (April 21st) officially ended the 2009 Winter Leagues. Awards were handed out, a good meal was had by all, and the lucky ones cleaned up at the after-dinner raffle.
For the Monday league, the Freed team (Randy Freed, Tim Landis, Randy Quintrell and Larry Bartholomew) won first place again this year. Randy says the fact that he maintains the averages and won-lost records has absolutely no bearing on his teamÕs continued success. ThatÕs what he says, and heÕs sticking to it!
For the Tuesday league, first place honors went to the team of Kyle and Kris Hovis, Steve Rawa and Andy Deavies, known far and wide as the 3-D Slayers. They attribute their success to good attendance, clean living and raw talent. You know that, even I, couldnÕt make up a whopper like that.
For the Thursday league the team of Brian Rush, Brian Kazinski, Ardie McCue and Sean Irey prevailed over all their fierce competition. Modesty prevented them from explaining why.
The Wednesday and Friday youth leagues have no teams per se, so all participants can be considered to be winners.
In non-league related activities, Pete Sattler received the
Alonzo Courtney Appreciation Award for his many contributions to the welfare of
the club, and Frank Staropoli received the prestigious Big Buck Award for his
eight point (local) buck. Actually
it was an eleven pointer with several broken tines, but as he says Òeight good
points were more than enough to winÓ.
